About the project
For several branches of the MOMAX chain in Romania, KRONTAB designed and supplied the electrical distribution infrastructure, ranging from the main switchboards to the secondary switchboards and those for technical and ancillary areas. The solutions were tailored to the specific requirements of each store, whilst maintaining a consistent technical approach and standard of workmanship across the network.
The configuration designed for each shop includes a 1,600 A main distribution board (MDB) and 10 secondary distribution boards, intended to distribute power to the various categories of consumers and technical areas.
The solution has been designed to ensure the safe and controlled distribution of power, circuit protection and continuity of supply in a commercial environment characterised by a wide variety of loads and the need for intensive operation.
The switchboards are manufactured using Legrand equipment, in a configuration tailored to the requirements of each installation, and with an internal layout that facilitates operation, circuit identification and maintenance work
STANDARDISATION OF THE SOLUTION FOR THE RETAIL CHAIN
Setting up the electrical infrastructure for a chain of shops involves maintaining a consistent technical approach from one location to the next, whilst adapting each configuration to the shop’s specific installed power, floor area and electrical loads.
The use of a common architecture – TEG + secondary switchboards – and the same equipment platform enables a consistent standard of implementation to be maintained and facilitates operation, maintenance and technical interventions across the entire network.
Benefits:
Built around the requirements of each project.
Control over the entire manufacturing process.
Equipment and systems from established manufacturers.
Every switchboard is inspected and tested before delivery.
Reliability designed for long-term operation.

Implemented solution
The Main Electrical Switchboard is the store’s primary low-voltage distribution point, supplying the secondary switchboards and the main categories of loads.
Rated at 1600 A, the TEG integrates the equipment required for circuit distribution and protection, together with the metering, control and signaling functions required for operation of the installation.
Internal distribution is carried out through a copper busbar system sized for the rated current, while the circuits are organized to allow functional separation of the different categories of loads.
The protection devices are configured to provide overload and short-circuit protection and to coordinate the different distribution levels, helping limit the effects of a potential fault on the rest of the installation.
The modular construction provides easy access to equipment and connections and facilitates inspection, maintenance and future modifications to the installation.
In addition to the main distribution system, 10 secondary electrical switchboards were installed at each location to supply the various categories of store loads.
These provide local distribution to the installations and equipment specific to the commercial space and allow the electrical installation to be divided into functional sections, so that each category of loads benefits from protection adapted to its characteristics.
The switchboards integrate equipment for distribution, protection and control and are configured according to the power requirements and purpose of the circuits they serve.
The clear organization of the equipment and circuit identification contributes to simplified operation and enables rapid intervention during inspection or maintenance activities.
Some of the secondary switchboards are dedicated to the technical installations and auxiliary loads required for the operation of the store.
They provide power supply and protection for circuits serving technical areas, separating auxiliary loads from the main distribution system and from other categories of commercial loads.
The configuration of each switchboard is adapted to the installation it serves and integrates the protection and control functions required for safe, controlled and easy-to-maintain operation.
The distribution solution integrates different levels of protection, sized according to the characteristics of the circuits and connected loads.
Depending on the configuration of each circuit, the system provides overcurrent and short-circuit protection, residual current protection and surge protection, helping protect the installation, equipment and users.
Coordination of the protection devices between the TEG and the secondary switchboards is designed to limit the impact of a potential fault on the rest of the distribution system.
The switchboards integrate the functions required for measuring and monitoring relevant electrical parameters, as well as for control and status indication where required by the installation configuration.
Parameter monitoring provides a clearer overview of the electrical distribution system and helps identify deviations or situations requiring intervention quickly.
In a commercial space with a large and diverse number of loads, these functions contribute to efficient management of the installation and continuity of operation.
