About the project
For the new production hall in Baia Mare, KRONTAB delivered the low-voltage electrical infrastructure required to ensure a stable and safe power supply for the entire technological process.
A Main Low-Voltage Switchboard (TEG) was installed with two 1000 A incomers and a 630 A generator incomer, integrated with a PLC-based automatic transfer system for source management, electrical parameter monitoring and control of the installation.
The solution is complemented by 5 sub-distribution switchboards, switchboards for technical areas and 2 reactive power compensation banks, sized according to the power requirements and characteristics of the connected loads.
The equipment used is from Eaton, selected for reliability, safety and efficient operation.

Implemented solution
The Main Low-Voltage Switchboard is configured with two 1000 A power sources and a 630 A backup source (generator), ensuring safe distribution and continuity of power supply throughout the installation.
The PLC-based ATS system automatically manages the main power sources and the backup generator source, integrating electrical parameter monitoring, equipment control and command, operating status indication and alarm management.
The solution provides operational flexibility, protection and continuous control over the main power distribution, contributing to the continuity of the production process.
Two sub-distribution switchboards were installed to distribute electrical power to the main categories of loads and equipment within the production hall.
The switchboards are sized and configured according to the power requirements and characteristics of the connected loads, integrating the equipment required for distribution, protection and control. The configuration ensures functional separation of the circuits and protection selectivity, limiting the impact of a potential fault on the rest of the installation.
Eaton equipment ensures safe and reliable operation, while the clear organization of the circuits facilitates operation, inspection and maintenance of the installation.
Three dedicated switchboards were installed to supply the auxiliary infrastructure and distribute power to the systems and equipment required for the operation of the production hall.
Each switchboard is configured according to the specific characteristics and power requirements of the connected loads, with dedicated circuits and appropriate protection devices to ensure safe and controlled operation.
The solution separates auxiliary loads from the main distribution system, provides easy access for servicing and maintenance, and offers flexibility for future modifications or extensions of the installation. The switchboards are equipped with Eaton components to ensure reliability and continuity of operation.
To optimize the energy performance of the installation, an automatic reactive power compensation bank rated at 300 kVAr was installed for power factor correction of the loads within the production hall.
The system provides automatic stepped compensation, adjusting the reactive power supplied according to load variations and the actual requirements of the installation. This maintains an appropriate power factor and avoids unnecessary reactive power flow within the internal electrical network.
The solution helps reduce electrical losses, improve the efficient use of network capacity and avoid costs associated with reactive energy consumption, while ensuring automatic operation and continuous adaptation to the factory’s operating conditions.
